Overview
The KC Futures DAO is a community of people who love Kansas City, want to see the region thrive, and believe that a prosperous future demands thoughtful adoption of and innovation around emerging technologies.
DAOs, or “decentralized autonomous organizations”, are an emergent form of community decision-making and governance that are built on blockchain’s distributed ledger technology.
The KC Futures DAO is both an end in itself and a platform for generating new activity. By creating, building, and growing the DAO, we are creating an opportunity for hands-on experimentation with and applied learning of an emergent Web3 technology. The DAO will also serve as a platform to support and advance the ideas, projects, businesses, and other creative endeavors of those within the community. DAO members create and vote on project proposals and work collectively to help bring them to fruition.

- Broadening participation in the launch and delivery of projects, programs, and initiatives aligned with the vision
- Building a community of practice, innovators, and stakeholders within greater Kansas City and beyond
- Embracing blockchain technologies that can lead to greater transparency, efficiency, decentralization, and distribution of power
Our History
The KC Futures DAO began with the passion and perseverance of Troy Carlson, a long-time supporter of and participant in local civic initiatives, who recognized the potential for Web3 technologies to expand access and visibility to a diverse audience.
Troy gathered a “founding team” of blockchain enthusiasts and entrepreneurs to refine the vision, explore the legal and technical requirements, and begin building a global network of Web3 visionaries.
KC Digital Drive serves as the backbone organizational home for the KC Futures DAO as we work towards a model of progressive decentralization. Polsinelli has generously provided pro bono legal counsel as we explore potential governance and structural options.
Dozens of enthusiasts, supporters, and blockchain experts in the community have lent their time, expertise, and passion to getting the DAO off the ground.
